We had the pleasure of working with a homeowner in Annville who wanted to transform their open, grassy property into a space that is useful and visually appealing. This project was about creating a better looking and more useful yard.
We began by planting six blossoming sour cherry trees, spaced to line the road and driveway. These trees not only provide stunning spring blossoms but also produce delicious sour cherries, adding both ornamental and edible value to the property. The client wanted a small fruit tree orchard, so we planted a disease resistant mix of two apple, two pear and two peach. The family plans to expand the orchard in the future, adding more varieties after seeing which ones they enjoy most and perform best. We extended a mulch bed right outside the house and added a thornless red raspberry trellis, offering easy access to raspberries all summer long for the family to browse and enjoy.
Looking ahead, we’re planning on adding a blueberry patch and a kiwi berry trellis in the open space behind the house next year. These additions will further enhance the property’s productivity, adding diversity and extending the availability of fresh fruit at their access. This evolving project highlights the homeowner’s vision for a functional and beautiful yard, and we’re excited to continue helping them bring it to life.
